Black Sesame Kitchen(黑芝麻厨房)位于一座两进门四合院的前院。

“黑芝麻厨房”的得名,是因为它2008年创立于黑芝麻胡同里的一处四合院。

厨房的主人Jen Lin Liu生于芝加哥,在南加州长大,毕业于哥伦比亚大学,父母亲都是台湾人。毕业之后,在中国当了几年外国记者的Jen,进入北京一所烹饪学校,成为一名得到认证资格的中国厨师,并在几家中餐馆实习。

她的烹饪经历在她的第一本书Serve the People: A Stir-Fried Journey Through China(中文书名:《为人民服务》)中有生动有趣的讲述。

这本书出版后的2008年,她在北京市中心的黑芝麻胡同里找到了一处四合院的住所,并将其改造成一个开放式厨房和餐厅,邀请朋友一起做饭、喝酒、吃饭和社交。

此后,黑芝麻厨房获得了无数的奖项和荣誉,在全球媒体1000多处被提及,还被知名美食指南Miele Guide评为全亚洲最好的餐厅之一。

2015年6月,Black Sesame Kitchen搬到了中老胡同的这个四合院,现在已经经营到第十年。厨房白天用于私人定制中餐烹饪课,晚上则用于定制的私厨,在这里,你可以和来自世界各地的朋友共进晚餐。餐饮经理Coco告诉我,晚餐是家庭式中式正餐(dinner),需要提前预定。
来这里学习烹饪课和预订私厨的客人,以外籍人士为主,并且有个奇特的现象——来BSK(Black Sesame Kitchen)用餐的常客会同时是TRB和大董的客人,但是去TRB和大董的客人不一定会喜欢BSK,会有着这样的一个“误差”。

因为BSK提供的烹饪课和私厨是“非常规的”,和大家平日的理解会不太一样——大家来到这样一个像普通北京人家的餐厅和厨房,除了学习中餐,品尝美食,更是享受一种和来自世界各地的朋友交流、分享的愉悦氛围。这可能就是为什么虽然和Temple Restaurant齐名,去Temple的人却不愿意来BSK的原因吧。也许这里更适合,在世界各地有过各种各样美食体验,且乐于体验不同饮食文化的食客!

Everything was perfect! The location, a cute hidden away tradition hutong, the atmosphere (a large table right in front of the kitchen

atmosphere over tea or soft drinks and nibbles even before class started!), and of course the menu! Not only was it mouthwateringly
delicious, but also served in great portions. You will need a doggy bag,even if you’re a big eater!

一切都很完美!地点在一个可爱、隐秘的胡同里,上课的房间是个有着一张大餐桌的厨房,客人们都超开心,在课前喝茶、吃零食,互相自我介绍,大家很快就会熟络起来。菜单上的菜品不仅超级美味,而且分量十足。即使你是个大胃王,也会需要一个打包袋哦。


This is a hands-on class, you will be able to actually do everything yourself, prep the vegetables or spices (with the cleaver!), kneal the
dough, cut it (still with the cleaver!) and hence walk out feeling empowered. You can cook Chinese food now!

这是一堂需要你亲力亲为的课程,你需要自己动手做每一件事,准备要用的蔬菜、香料、面团,等等,当你走出这个烹饪教室你会有一种我会做中国菜的成就感!


The teacher, Michelle Tang was really able to give us useful experienced advice on how to prepare the same back home without loosing the flavor (mistakes to be avoided when choosing oils and seasoning from our Asian grocery supermarket, how to adapt the recipe with Western ingredients if we’re stuck, etc). Furthermore, having lived for almost two decades in Beijing, Michelle really was able to pass on everything that Chinese Cooking Culture holds, helping us dive into the culture with ease and understanding!”
